Pie in the Park 2010 was a Blast!
With over 150 attendees and 70 pies, this year’s Pie in the Park was the biggest yet! Thanks to everyone who came out, and sorry for those who came to find no pie left. After the eating began at around 2:15, the pies went fast! Thanks to Brooklyn Soda Works, Oslo Coffee, Bacon Marmalade, Kors d’Oeuvres, and SCRATCHbread for being part of the day, and special thanks to everyone who...

.blackbird blackbird.
croquetseason: SF based band bye bye blackbird recently changed their name to blackbird blackbird. thank god. but their music is still just as sparkly and washed out as ever. if you’re driving around those super scary salsalito cliffs, roll down all of your windows and blast ‘avalanche’ below….off their upcoming arcade sound ep. Blackbirds have always played an integral role in pie-making....

Pie for the Weekend!
It seems that every where I look lately, I see pie. My plans this weekend include food trips to the Hester Street Market to sample Alison Kave’s ‘First Prize Pies’ - one of which will be featured in the Pie in the Park book - and to Four and Twenty Blackbirds in Gowanus - a lovely new pie shop. Also, I think I’m going to start making pies, from fruit and veggies bought...

Outlining the Pie in the Park Cookbook
I’ve started a Mind Map on Mind Meister to outline how I will approach the Pie in the Park Cookbook. Rather than being a straight-up cookbook of pie recipes, the book will tell a story - of pie, of family and of connections between people.  I’m going to talk about the origins of pie in the US and abroad, the history of how Pie in the Park came to be, my personal history with food,...
